Colds are one of the illnesses you can easily catch during winter. The worst thing about it is that it’s difficult to recover from it.
But do you know that aromatherapy offers a solution against the colds? Not just colds, but for flu, allergies, and sinusitis too.
All you need to do is mix different essential oils and diffuse them in the air for you to inhale the solution. Without further ado, here are some recipes you can do to relieve yourself from colds through aromatherapy.
For Coughs and Chest Colds
This is a recipe for inhalation mixture and you need the following essential oils:
- 6 drops of Rosemary
- 6 drops of Cinnamon
- 3 drops of Thyme
- 6 drops of Pine
Mix all these oil together and set them aside. You can diffuse the solution using an oil diffuser. Another alternative is to put 5 drops of the solution onto 18 ounces of hot water. Place your face above the hot water and cover the back of your head with a towel. This will serve as a tent where you can inhale a concentrated amount of the solution through steam.
This is effective against internal colds and coughs.
You will need the following essential oils for this recipe:
- 10 drops of Eucalyptus
- 20 drops of Orange
- 10 drops of Pine Needle
- 10 drops of Juniper Berry
- 6 drops of Rosewood
- 6 drops of Basil
- 4 drops of Ginger
Mix all these essential oils and diffuse them using an oil diffusing device. Please use the amount of drops indicated on your oil diffuser. You may also use this solution by adding 5 drops onto your bath.
This solution is effective for mild colds.
Flu and Cold Prevention
For this recipe, you will be needing the following essential oils:
- 5 ml of Eucalyptus
- 5 ml of Lavender
- 2 ml of Bay Laurel
- 3 ml of Ravensara
Mix all these oils in an amber bottle. During flu and cold season, use the solution for your oil diffuser. This will help you build up necessary resistance to prevent getting flu and colds.
Oil Balm for Congestion
If you don’t have access to an oil diffuser, then here’s a recipe for an oil balm. You still need essential oils to make this and this is what you need:
- 8 drops of Eucalyptus
- 2 drops of Thyme
- 5 drops of Lavender
- 1 tbsp. of organic Coconut oil
Mix all of them in a jar. When needed, get a teaspoon-size amount of the solution and apply it on your chest area. This will help you experience easier breathing and relaxing sleep.
