Aromatherapy is an effective way of relaxation, especially, when you go to sleep at night. It helps you minimize stress and develop a peace of mind. This prepares you with a better mood for the following day. Hence, there’s no doubt that essential oils are beneficial to our wellbeing.
In order for you to maximize its benefits, you should integrate aromatherapy when your body is at full rest. This is when you’re asleep.
Keep in mind that not all essential oils are relaxing. Some are invigorating and not all of them are suitable for relaxation. In order to help you in choosing the essential oils you need at night, here’s my list of oil blends that I personally use at night.
1. Vetiver, Roman Chamomile, and Lavender
Lavender is known be the popular essential oil for relaxation. You can use the lavender alone in your sleep or on your bath. But why do we need to combine it with Vetiver and Roman Chamomile?
Combing Lavender with Vetiver allows you to enjoy an efficient aroma that will calm both your body and mind. The Roman Chamomile is a gentle aroma as well. In fact, it’s perfect for sleeping children. Combining the Roman Chamomile with Lavender and Vetiver will add a unique aroma that will make you sleep deeper.
2. Bergamot, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, and Patchouli
The combination of Ylang Ylang and Patchouli is perfect for a calming environment. With the addition of Lavender, the aroma becomes more captivating and strong. The Bergamot essential oil gives this combination with a twist of citrus.
The best thing about Bergamot aroma is it doesn’t overwhelm the entire fragrance of this blend. In fact, it adds a bit of energizing, but relaxing, aroma. I find this blend perfect after a long day of hard work.
3. Vetiver and Frankincense
Frankincense has a stimulating aroma which you won’t find from other essential oils. Its aroma also relieves anxiety and stress. As for Vetiver, it is child-friendly and its aroma provides calming fragrance. Experts also recommend Vetiver aroma in enhancing children’s behavior.
Combining these two essential oils produces a unique fragrance that will help you relax at night. I usually used frankincense alone until I tried to combine it with different oils as well. The Frankincense and Vetiver blend are a remarkable combination that I frequently use when I go to bed.
4. Bergamot and Lavender
If you don’t have Ylang Ylang and Patchouli, then the Lavender and Bergamot blend can do the trick.
The Bergamot citrus aroma, combined with the sweet fragrance of Lavender, gives you a refreshing and relaxing fragrance at night. Smelling the scent of this blend at night makes me remember some uplifting memories. I assure you that it will give you a smile on your face as you go to sleep.
